Cape Town City launched its new online booking system for motor vehicle license renewals, as well as account payments and queries on Friday 2 September. The new system allows customers to anticipate the queue by making a reservation in advance.

A new reservation system, which allows residents to make an online reservation through the City’s website, for registration and motor vehicle registration, for municipal payments and for making payment arrangements. The service is currently available at three select customer offices and will be introduced to other customer walk-in centers across the city in September 2022.

Customers will receive a confirmation SMS and email with their appointment reference, which will be requested and verified on the day of the appointment.

Once the resident has arrived at the walk-in center where the reservation was made, the reservation reference number must be inserted on the touch screen terminal to receive their Queue Management System (QMS) ticket. The next available councilor will then call the QMS number.

According to the City of Cape Town, customers can make appointments at the walk-in center in the Table Bay Shopping Centre, the Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing Office in the city’s Civic Center and the walk-in center. meet at the civic center. Additionally, this system will be introduced to more customer offices across the city across the metro by the end of September 2022.

“We encourage residents to visit our website and use our online reservation system to avoid long queues during peak periods. This is one of the ways in which the City improves and rationalizes its service offer to citizens. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the customer experience and achieve greater efficiency,” said Siseko Mbandezi, a member of the city’s municipal finance committee.

It is important to note that reservations will only be valid from 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the meeting time. Reservations are automatically canceled when the customer misses the 15 minute window.
