MPIC CFO joins WBA Assembly of Allies

Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), represented by its Director of MPIC Finance, Risk and Sustainability, Chaye Cabal-Revilla, joined the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) Allies Assembly 2022 as a speaker and panelist in Cape Town, in South Africa.

At this global, multi-stakeholder roundtable, as a representative from the business side, Cabal-Revilla shared MPIC’s sustainability journey of integrating a holistic approach to its core business strategies and sustainability-related advocacy at a multi-stakeholder group of over 100 delegates from local, regional and international organisations.

We are committed to strengthening our sustainability efforts and being an instrument of our country’s sustainable development,” Cabal-Revilla said.

MPIC was included earlier this year as part of the WBA’s SDG2000, the 2000 most influential companies shaping the future in terms of their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

WBA is an international non-profit organization working to create a movement to measure and encourage business impact towards a sustainable future that works for everyone. They do this by developing free, publicly available benchmarks that compare the contribution of the private sector to the UN SDGs. These benchmarks inform and empower business leaders and investors, as well as governments, civil society and other key stakeholders.

AGI posts second quarter profit of P6.6-B, raises first half profit to P12-B

Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI), the holding company of tycoon Dr. Andrew L. Tan, maintained its strong performance in the second quarter of 2022 with a 24% increase in net profit quarter-on-quarter (QT) to 6.6 billion pesos while consolidated revenues increased by 20% quarter-on-quarter to reach 45.1 billion pesos.

Owners’ net income in the same quarter was 4.4 billion pesos, 12% higher than QoQ.

For the first half of 2022, consolidated revenue increased 16% year-on-year (YoY) to 82.6 billion pesos, while net income fell 6% year-on-year to 12.0 billion pesos. Attributable profit was 8.2 billion pesos, indicating a year-on-year decline of 3%.

These figures for the first half of 2021 included a large one-time gain of 5.4 billion pesos, booked mainly by AGI’s entertainment and leisure unit. Excluding this exceptional item, AGI recorded normalized revenue growth of 26% year-on-year, a 63% increase in net profit and a 41% improvement in attributable profit, indicating solid growth in overall operations.

“AGI’s strong interim performance reflects the quarterly uptick in economic activity, helped by pent-up consumer spending as mobility continues to improve. This was felt across all of our business segments which performed at or above their pre-pandemic levels,” said Kevin L. Tan, Chief Executive Officer of AGI.

The Andrew Tan conglomerate has varied interests spanning property developments through property giant Megaworld Corporation; recreation, entertainment and hospitality through Travelers International Hotel Group, Inc.; the manufacture of spirits by Emperador Inc.; quick-service restaurants through Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), popularly known as mcdonalds philippines, which is a strategic partnership with the George Yang Group; and infrastructure developments via Infracorp.

Maynilad offers emptying services in August

West Area Concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. is offering septic tank cleaning services to residential and semi-professional customers in August in parts of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon City, Valenzuela and Cavite province at no additional cost.
