All the major records England broke against the Netherlands in Amsteleevn today:

498/4 – The highest total in the history of any List A cricket topping 496/4 by Surrey against Gloucestershire at the Oval in 2007. England now hold the top three positions for the highest innings totals in the ODIs.

3 – The England innings provided the third instance of three players scoring hundreds for a team in the same ODI innings – Phil Salt 122, Dawid Malan 125 and Jos Buttler 162*. The two previous cases came in 2015 from South Africa: by Hashim Amla, Rilee Rossouw and AB de Villiers against West Indies at Wanderers and by Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers v India at Wankhede.

17 – balls taken by Liam Livingstone make it the second fastest ODI behind AB de Villiers’ 16-ball effort against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 2015. The previous fastest for England was 21 balls each by Eoin Morgan against Australia in Nottingham in 2018 and Jonny Bairstow against Ireland in Southampton in 2020.

32 – Points scored by Livingstone on 46th most played by Philippe Boissevain – most productive for England in ODI cricket. He topped Dimitri Mascarenhas’ 30-point run, where he hit five sixes against Yuvraj Singh at the Oval in 2007.

47 balls caught Buttler to register his tenth ODI cent is second fastest for England in terms of balls faced. Buttler takes the top three spots for England in the list having scored a 46-ball cent against Pakistan in Dubai in 2015 and a 50-ball cent against the same opponent in Southampton in 2019. He is now the only player in ODI cricket to have scored three centuries in 50 balls or less.

65 balls taken by Buttler is the second-smallest player to score 150 runs in an ODI, just a solitary ball short of AB de Villiers’ record 64 balls against the West Indies in Sydney in 2015. Buttler is also third in the listing. when he hit 150 from 76 against the West Indies at St George’s in 2019.

2 – Malan became the second player to be involved in two over 180 partnerships in the same ODI – 222 with Salt and 184 with Buttler. The first to do so was Hashim Amla who scored 247 with Rilee Rosssouw and 192 with AB de Villiers in Johannesburg in 2015.

26 six hits by England in their innings happen to be the most hits by a team in an ODI. England occupy the next two places and crush 25 against Afghanistan in Manchester and 24 against the West Indies in Saint Georgesboth in 2019.

274 tracks scored by England between overs 31 and 50 is the most scored by a team in the last 20 overs of an ODI leg bettering South Africa’s 267 against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 2015. Buttler hit 162 of those runs, making him the second most by a batter in this phase after Rohit Sharma’s 171 runs against Sri Lanka in 2014.

108 tracks conceded by Philippe Boissevain on his ten overs is the fourth most conceded by a bowler in an ODI innings. Boissevain became the second spinner to concede more than 100 runs in an ODI after Rashid Khan, whose nine overs went for 110 against England in the World Cup match in Manchester.
