Candice Poole, actress and producer herself said: “It was during my studies at NYFA that I had the idea to launch Act Cape Town. I was hugely inspired by the knowledge and skills of the speakers, who were themselves industry professionals, as well as the specialized and hands-on course program. At the time, there were no theater schools in Cape Town offering training at this level. Having studied theater, my training in no way prepared me for the realities of a career as a film and television actor. I had to learn by trial and error as well as on the job. The desire to perfect my craft, along with my lifelong dream of studying abroad in New York City, prompted me to enroll in NYFA – a decision that changed my life. Since the inception of ACTS, it has been part of our vision to align ourselves with an international college of the highest caliber. Having achieved this vision with my alma mater is a defining moment that gives me great pride. Greatest gratitude to NYFA President Michael Young and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives Jim Miller for their open, innovative and expert approach to making our collaboration a reality. We are very excited about the future and the myriad possibilities offered by the ACT-NYFA educational partnership.
