Ellen zucker is one of the most powerful and respected civil rights litigators in the country. She gives voice to injured people in the workplace and has been a legal champion for civil rights throughout her career. She got a pioneer $ 13 million regulations for an orthopedic surgeon, Dennis W. Burke, MD, who denounced a practice in Massachusetts General Hospital to allow surgeons to book and perform multiple surgeries at the same time and who – because of its patient safety advocacy – have had their long-standing medical appointments terminated. The affair had national repercussions: Massachusetts, the Board of Registration in Medicine has promulgated regulations that limit the practice of concomitant surgery and set standards for informed consent; the American College of Surgeons changed its policies and the major medical centers changed their practices. Zucker also represented Carol warfield, MD, the first woman to chair a major clinical department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston. She endured years of gender discrimination and was dismissed as president after voicing concerns about what she was facing. Zucker secured a landmark settlement for Dr Warfield on the eve of the trial for $ 7 million. Dr Warfield remains a professor at Harvard Medical School and the BIDMC Pain Clinic was named in his honor. Zucker represented Malvina Monteiro, a Cape Verdean official who suffered reprisals after raising concerns about discrimination in the Cambridge city. She got a $ 8.9 million judgment in favor of Mrs. Monteiro. Her work on this and other cases has earned her recognition from the local branch of the NAACP and the National Organization for Women, as well as other professional organizations.
Beth R. Myers is a well-known labor litigator who is highly regarded for her advocacy for employee representation in cases involving allegations of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and time disputes, and non-employment. compliance with the law on family medical leave. She has also held numerous leadership roles in the Massachusetts chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association since 2011, most recently as president of the organization from 2018 to 2020.
Zucker received his JD from Boston College Faculty of Law in 1994, his master’s degree in political theory of London School of Economics and political science and his BA from Wesleyan University. She began her legal career as a Paralegal with the Honorable Nancy Gertner at the Federal District / District Court of Massachusetts. Myers received his JD from Northeastern University Faculty of Law in 2009 and his BA from New York University.
