Maynier: WC has spent 214 million rand on actual COVID-19 spending so far

The provincial treasury released its latest spending report from April 2021 to the end of July this year. It aims to be transparent due to the continued corruption around spending state funds in the fight against the pandemic.

CAPE TOWN – Western Cape Finance MEC David Maynier has said that to date, 214 million rand has been spent on the province’s COVID-19 battle.

“The consistent release of our public procurement disclosure report, which details all COVID-19 related spending by provincial government departments and entities, is our commitment to transparency and clean government in the Western Cape. Said Maynier.

The provincial treasury released its latest spending report from April 2021 to the end of July this year. It aims to be transparent due to the continued corruption around spending state funds in the fight against the pandemic.

Maynier said total procurement spending for July was over R108 million, most of which was spent by provincial ministries.
