Joburg Water issued a statement regarding a water outage affecting Alexandra, Kew and Lombardy.
The water outage began on May 1 and was caused by a faulty valve at the Ranjieslaagte reservoir according to Joburg Water.
Joburg Water has alerted residents that Rand Water will isolate the water supply to the depot as the 600mm valve needs to be replaced. They are currently busy with repairs.

Affected residents have taken to social media to express their frustration with the situation.
I believe that other issues were detected during the repair and it is not possible to restore the water before TOMMORROW ????????

I mean why can’t you tell us the truth yesterday. For us to prepare

It’s crazy. So what are you doing all weekend giving us updates as you fix and turn on the water. Ok now that you’ve been waiting for the controllers to open so you can buy spare parts, when should you expect water ???

The update does not indicate that the situation started on Saturday morning and now, almost 3 days later, someone has realized that a valve needs to be replaced. And still no ETA. There is no SLA and no liability. @GeoffMakhubo you are not concerned

What does this mean exactly, do you say that we will run out of water for the next 3 days or… ..
– King B ???????????????? (@Wakanda_Dlozi) May 3, 2021
This is what we should have told each other, not the run around you that you are giving us. With unnecessary photos and lies.
